The Douro Valley extends from the city of Porto to Portugal’s eastern border with Spain. This is where the Port wine production activities and the unique scenery sculpted by the Douro river and its tributaries are tourist highlights not to be missed.
This beautiful landscape, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, where the grapes to make Port wine are planted, offers some very interesting rail itineraries. The state rail system will try to take you back to the kinder days of 1910 by offering a steam train excursion into this lush landscape, which includes a stop to educate you about the wine culture in the valley.
